WHCA, with the WHO Regional Office for Europe, held a World Health & Environment Editors Network (WHEN) meeting in Vienna on 12-13 June 2007. The focus of the meeting was children’s environmental health in Europe.

The WHEN meeting immediately preceded a WHO Regional Ministerial gathering (13-15 June see www.euro.who.int/eprise/main/WHO/Progs/eehc/conferences/20070327_1), at which the 53 countries in the WHO European Region reported on their progress in developing children's environment and health action plans (CEHAPE) and on the implementation of actions addressing commitments made in Budapest in June 2004 related to ensuring safe water, preventing injuries and promoting physical activity, ensuring clean air and chemical-free environments.

Editors attending had an early and exclusive look at new country and regional data on children’s environmental burden of diseases, climate change preparedness guidelines and planned road and chemical safety campaigns. WHO, Governmental and NGO experts and advocates gave short briefings and answered questions.
