Andreas Rossbach Andreas Rossbach grew up in Germany where he graduated from school in 1997. A two-year training-on-the-job scheme provided him with experience in business and industrial management at Braun GmbH in Kronberg. Deciding it was time for a fresh start, he moved to Cardiff in Wales where he graduated from Cardiff University in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in biotechnology. While undertaking his PhD in Immunology, Andreas investigated new ways to design and administer vaccines, with particular focus on immunisation with genetic material. He has recently taken up a postdoctoral fellowship position in the Cardiology Department at the University Hospital in Cardiff, where he works to characterise a specific enzyme active at fertilisation.

Through the WHCA he hopes to contribute to improved communication between the public, media and decision makers. His background in research allows him to look at communication problems from a scientist's point of view.
